Outbound Prospecting Supported By Inbound Lead Follow-Up

Many manufacturers already have a website and an SEO firm generating traffic and form submissions but still need outsourced sales development for outbound prospecting. The sales team is stretched thin, with no time to prospect, qualify each inbound inquiry, or follow up when the buyer isn’t ready to act. Inbound leads can sit in an inbox while sales representatives manage customers, prepare quotes, solve technical problems, and work on opportunities already in the pipeline.

Our Hybrid program connects these two types of activity. We conduct outbound prospecting to defined target accounts and follow up on inbound submissions produced by your existing digital marketing program. This gives each lead a defined owner, qualification process, next step, and record in the sales pipeline.

We do not replace your SEO or website provider in this program. We work from the demand that provider generates, report what happens to the submissions, and share lead-quality feedback that you can use in conversations with your marketing partner.

Who The Hybrid Program Is Best Suited For

This program is designed for manufacturers that need outbound sales development and inbound lead follow-up but already have a separate provider responsible for SEO, website work, or digital marketing.

  • Those whose sales representatives do not have enough time for consistent outbound prospecting
  • Those already working with an SEO, website, or inbound marketing provider
  • Those receiving website inquiries that need faster or more consistent follow-up
  • Those that need help separating qualified opportunities from spam, solicitations, and poor-fit submissions
  • Those entering a new market or pursuing a defined group of target accounts
  • Those with complex or long buying cycles that require repeated contact
  • Those willing to define target customers, qualification criteria, disqualifiers, and sales handoff rules
  • Those with technical sales resources available to take qualified opportunities through pricing, proposals, and close

What Is Included In The Hybrid Program?

The Hybrid program follows the outbound structure used in Athena’s Traditional program and adds direct follow-up on inbound leads. The exact mix depends on your target market, sales process, current marketing relationships, and internal sales capacity.

Target Market Development

Athena works with you to define the companies and buying roles that fit the program. The target market profile can include industries, geography, company size, applications, annual spend, contact titles, qualification criteria, and disqualifiers. We then build, clean, and verify prospect lists and identify decisionmakers and influencers for outbound contact.

Outbound Prospecting

We contact selected prospects through phone calls, voicemails, one-to-one emails, and other agreed outreach. Our work is based on the approved target profile rather than a broad list of companies. We determine whether the company and potential project fit your criteria, update in our CRM, and schedule the next appropriate sales step when we identify a qualified opportunity.

Inbound Lead Follow-Up And Qualification

We follow up on all website forms, RFQs, chatbot submissions, and other inbound responses routed into the program. We contact the prospect, confirm the company and project fit, clarify need and timing, gather available opportunity details, and document the conversation in the CRM. We hand qualified opportunities to your appropriate sales resource with the context needed for the next discussion.

Future-Interest Follow-Up

A prospect may fit the target market without having an active project. We record the reason for future interest, expected timing, and agreed next step instead of treating the lead as closed/lost. Follow-up continues according to the prospect’s stated timing or the cadence established for the program. Once a prospect is re-engaged, we requalify the opportunity and book the first step in the sales process.

Appointment Setting And Sales Handoff

We schedule qualified calls, virtual meetings, site visits, or other agreed first sales steps. We document the qualification information and coordinate the handoff so your sales team can prepare for the technical and commercial conversation. The process includes appointment confirmation and rescheduling.

Sales Process Management

Program activity is tracked in the CRM so you and Athena and can review prospect status, next steps, future-interest timing, and pipeline movement. Regular sales process meetings provide a place to review qualified leads, active opportunities, lead quality, unresolved follow-up, and needed changes to targeting or messaging. A sales coordinator assigned to your account will fill administrative gaps to ensure nothing slips through the cracks and active opportunities are moved through the sales process efficiently.

Sales Content Support

The program can include the sales content needed to support outbound contact and follow-up. Depending on scope, this may include value messaging, call scripts, prospecting emails, sales sheets, case studies, newsletters, or follow-up pieces. This supports sales development and does not replace the SEO or website content responsibilities assigned to your digital marketing provider.

Sales Coordination

Sales coordination may be included based on the agreement. When included, Athena will follow up on stalled RFQs or quotes, re-engage dormant accounts, contact selected existing customers about additional revenue opportunities, and support administrative follow-up on active sales-cycle items.

Clear Responsibilities Across Three Teams

Hybrid programs involve Athena, your sales sales team, and an outside SEO or website provider. Defining ownership early prevents duplicate work and reduces the chance of missed inquiries.

The Value Of Outsourced Sales Development

Hybrid lead generation adds a sales-development layer to your existing digital marketing work. It gives you a way to pursue selected accounts while applying the same qualification, follow-up, and tracking discipline to leads that arrive through yourwebsite.

  • Add outbound prospecting capacity without building and managing a separate internal prospecting team.
  • Give inbound inquiries a defined owner and follow-up process after they enter the website or CRM.
  • Provide the SEO or website provider with clear feedback on lead quality and sales outcomes.
  • Improve pipeline visibility by documenting outreach, qualification details, prospect status, and next steps.
  • Keep future-fit prospects active through scheduled follow-up rather than allowing them to age out of the pipeline.
  • Allow technical sales representatives to spend more time on applications, quoting, proposals, and closing.
  • Connect outbound and inbound opportunities to one sales process without moving SEO work away from the current provider.
  • Identify gaps between lead generation and sales follow-up before qualified opportunities are lost.

Manufacturing Industries That Benefit From Outsourced Sales Development

Athena works with manufacturers that sell through complex B2B sales processes and need direct prospecting as well as follow-up on inbound demand generated by another provider.

FAQs About Outsourced Sales Development With Inbound Lead Follow-Up

Athena’s Hybrid program combines outbound prospecting with follow-up on inbound leads generated through your existing website and marketing relationships. Athena identifies and contacts target accounts, qualifies outbound and inbound opportunities, schedules appointments, manages follow-up, and tracks activity through the sales process.

Traditional focuses on outbound activity and does not include inbound lead follow-up. Hybrid uses the same outbound sales-development structure and adds a process to contact, qualify, route, and track website inquiries and other inbound responses.

In the Integrated program, Athena can manage outbound prospecting, inbound lead follow-up, SEO, website support, content, and related front-end sales-development work. In the Hybrid program, another provider handles SEO, website work, or inbound marketing. Athena handles outbound prospecting and the sales follow-up required after an inbound lead is generated.

No. The Hybrid program is intended for manufacturers that already have an internal resource or another firm handling SEO and website work. Athena can share lead-quality and sales-process feedback, but the existing provider remains responsible for generating and improving inbound demand.

The lead is routed into the agreed follow-up process. Athena reviews the submission, contacts the prospect, assesses the company and project fit, gathers available details, documents the activity, and coordinates the next step with your sales team when the opportunity qualifies.

You keep your relationship with the existing provider. Athena can provide information about submission quality, qualification results, and sales outcomes so you have a clearer view of what the inbound program is producing.

Yes. Outbound calling is part of the Hybrid sales development process. It is supported by approved target criteria, verified prospect lists, email and voicemail outreach, qualification, and scheduled follow-up.

Athena follows up on RFQs and quotes for any sales opportunity that our team generates on your behalf. Athen can also perform follow up tasks on RFQ and quotes from work outside of our program through sales coordination when it is part of the program agreement. Athena can contact the prospect, clarify status and timing, document feedback, and help keep the opportunity from stalling.

Your sales team handles technical discussions, engineering or application review, pricing, detailed RFQs, proposals, negotiations, site visits, and closing. Athena handles prospect identification, early contact, qualification, appointment setting, follow-up, CRM documentation, and sales-process reporting.

The program is usually not a fit for companies that need Athena to take over SEO or rebuild the website (see our SEO programs), want only a list of names, expect every contact to produce an immediate sale, lack defined qualification criteria, or do not have a sales resource available to take qualified opportunities forward.
